The seasons ends today. Arsene Wenger’s career as Arsenal Manager ends today. To close out, its a tricky trip to recently-safe Huddersfield Town who will be looking to finish their season on a high.
Which Arsenal are going to turn up…will we see the flash looking team that tore Burnley apart just a week ago, or the nervous looking, unimaginative team of Wednesday night? Lets all hope for the former! Its surely about time that the players deliver the first away win of 2018, and no better time to do it than closing out the great man’s career. Its not just Wenger hanging up his boots today; Per Mertesacker and Vic Akers too. So there is plenty of motivation for the players to get the job done.
Those players rested on Wednesday should return to the fold, and I expect to see Lacazette and Aubameyang reunited from the off. No Mesut Ozil again, and after Iwobi’s extremely disappointing performance mid week, Wilshere should return ti the midfield three, alongside Ramsey and Xhaka. The remaining wide position will either be filled by Welbeck or Mhkitaryan, whilst Mustafi and Bellerin should come back into the Defensive unit. After his first red card mid week, young Mavropanos starts a suspension so is unavailable for today.
Huddersfield will be looking for a party today. They will be looking to make it as difficult for Arsenal as they did for Chelsea mid week, and David Wagner will set up his XI with plenty organisation and defensive grit. After returning to the bench after injury mid week, Tom Ince may return to the XI and young Pritchard nay again be the danger man for the Terriers. Goalkeeper Jonas Lossl will be looking to continue his great form also, so this will not be a easy game at all for the Arsenal.
Prediction: 2-1 to Arsenal with Ramsey and Aubameyang scoring one a piece.
