EUROPA LEAGUE: CSKA vs ARSENAL RATINGS

After some dramatic results in Europe, it was our turn in europa league & we also had a 3 goal lead from the first leg like all the other dramatic fixtures.

The team really picked itself with mkhi out injured , xhaka out with a flu & Auba ineligible to play. It was our strongest eleven available. Welbeck started as he deserved the start on his current form.

It was very stale from both sides in the first half. As usual our CB’s looked shaky but elneny supported them well. Özil had some bright moments and was our best player in the first half as he was the only one who looked to create something. Cska scored after a quick substitution around 39th minute mark and that filled them with confidence. Cech made a good first safe but inability of him to put it away combined with our defender’s slow reaction saw them score on the rebound. 2nd half saw them penetrate even more and they scored again in similar fashion. This was a shot which Cech should have hold or should have put it away. They again scored on the rebound where their attackers reacted better than our defenders. Defensively it was a very bad performance. It was all nervy after they had scored twice as one more goal would have put them through to the next round. We needed a goal badly at that time and had few chances as they looked better. Then Welbeck & Elneny showed that they are in best form of their lives as they combined well & help us score which made us more comfortable in the tie. Then towards the end as Cska pushed forward, we scored another goal thanks to elneny who put Ramsey through with a beautiful through ball which Ramsey finished with ease. It wasn’t a very good performance but the result was the only thing that mattered. On to the next round.

Ratings :

FIRST TEAM :

Cech – 5

Made some good saves specially first saves but put them right on the plate for the opposition to score on the rebound.

Bellerin – 5.5

Looked tired & didn’t have the best of games. Not sharp enough.

Mustafi – 5.5

Looked shaky & failed to react to clear the rebounds. Could do a lot better.

Koscielny – 4.5

Another poor game by the captain as he didn’t look comfortable. He just doesn’t look himself these days. This really calls for a revamp of the CB positions.

Monreal – 6

Could have done better but didn’t do anything much wrong as well. His lack of pace troubled him at times.

Elneny – 9.5 (MOTM)

Man of the Match

One of the best games for us by the egyptian. He really has come into the form of his life. Looks a composing presence these days & capped his good performance with two goals. Drove forward well & defended well as he looked our best player. Keep it up moh👍

Ramsey – 7

Scored a good goal towards the end but started the game not so sharp. He had a horrible cut in his leg too which didn’t stop him as he kept running & finished the game on a high.

Wilshere – 4.5

Another disappointing performance by jack. Needs to improve as this is the crucial period for him along with the team.

Özil – 7.5

Was our best players in the first half. Looked our only creative outlet at times. Another strong performance by him.

Welbeck – 9

Scored a good goal & kept running tirelessly throughout the game. His speed & power was so useful in a game where we didn’t look great. Strong contender for the Motm and he looks in fine form at this time.

Lacazette – 6

Not a very good game by him as he had little service at times. Combined well at times and worked hard too but could influence much.

SUBSTITUTES:

Chambers – 6

Iwobi- 4
