PREMIER LEAGUE: Arsenal vs Everton – Ratings & Review

After a difficult outing against Swansea, our next game was against Everton at the Emirates. There was lot of pressure on the team after a poor display in wales and the team delivered with a classy performance in the first half.

There was a lot of buzz around the club with the fans looking excited after we completed the long awaited big signing of Aubameyang & tied Özil down to a big contract.

Aubameyang started the game for his debut with Mkhitaryan being handed his home debut by Wenger. There was a change in formation with us going to a 4-2-3-1 from 4-3-3 in the last game. Mkhi & Auba replaced Lacazette & Elneny in the lineup while rest of the players kept their place.

It was all really fluid & sharp from the start by the team. Mkhitaryan combined well with the likes of Özil & Ramsey to create space for others. We started the scoring through Ramsey in the 6th minute who finished from close range after some brilliant buildup play by Özil-Auba-Mkhi. Then we added two more in quick succession through Koscielny after a very good set piece and another through Ramsey from outside the box. We were 3 up in the first 20 minutes of the game. Özil & Mkhi were pulling all the strings as the former created the first chance for our speedy new signing Auba who failed to finish. Then in the 37th minute Debutant Aubameyang got off the mark and finished with a beautiful chip after a beautiful ball by Mkhitaryan (thought it looked offside). Monreal then unluckily hit the post. Xhaka also looked solid. All the damage was done in the first half where we torn Everton apart with some sublime play.

Monreal was substituted at halftime with a suspected injury & Kolasinac replaced him. 2nd half wasn’t the same as we didn’t play with similar intensity because the game was already won. We concede at 67th minute mark as Cech was again denied his 200th Clean sheet after some very poor defending by Kolasinac. Cech then injured his calf & was replaced by Ospina. Later Ramsey completed his hattrick of goals with Mkhitaryan completing his Hattrick of assists expertly. Wilshere came on for a cameo later on replacing the Hattrick hero Ramsey as we saw out the game. It was a very good performance by the team with the most of the players looking really up for it specially the likes Auba, Mkhi, Ramsey, Özil , Xhaka, Koscielny. A talking point could be to fit Lacazette in the eleven who hasn’t done much wrong in my opinion & has been one of our best players this season.

This performance had something to build upon as we are lacking consistency at this point. Signs are all positive and i hope we reach new heights this season.

Ratings :

Cech – 7

Still no luck in getting his record Clean sheet but looked largely comfortable. Got injured later on so that is something to keep an eye on.

Bellerin – 7

Went up & down well but has to improve his final ball. Wasn’t troubled much in the game.

Koscielny – 8

Scored the goal & handled his work with Responsibility.

Mustafi – 7.5

Looked Sharp & at ease. Put in a great tackle to deny Theo a clear goal scoring opportunity. Needs to be consistent now.

Monreal – 7

He was his usual consistent self for the 45 minutes he was on the pitch. Was unlucky not to score when he hit the post. Substituted at HT with a suspected injury.

Xhaka – 8

I think he was solid today. Put tackles in , passed well & positioning was top notch too. I really think he doesn’t get much credit for his quality & he should be appreciated more by the fan base. Our confidence in him can make him more consistent.

Ramsey- 10 (MOTM)

Man of the Match

Hattrick hero who was everywhere. Scored 3 beautiful goals with his typical late runs. He was flawless & got the first hattrick of his career. He has been mostly good this season, i hope it continues & he stays fit. Smart performance.

Mkhitaryan – 10 (MOTM)

Man of the Match

Absolutely Phenomenal home debut display by our new number 7. Bagged his hattrick of assists & was gliding on the pitch with his movement & linkup play looking very fluid. He was everywhere combining well with his new team mates & looked as if he’s playing for us since years. Looked so comfortable and showed very good work rate too, signs are very encouraging. One of the best debuts i have seen for Arsenal.

MOTM is shared by Ramsey & Mkhitaryan as I couldn’t choose between the two on the day as they both looked class apart.

Iwobi – 7.5

He was a surprise inclusion from the start but really looked sharp. He combined well and worked really hard. Got one assist & helped his team with desire.

Özil – 8.5

Although he didn’t get an Assist or a goal but he was instrumental in creating 3 of our goals. Created all the space for the team in midfield and created 2-3 brilliant chances which were not finished for an assist. His partnership with Mkhi & Auba is something to keep an eye on as it looks telepathic.

Aubameyang – 8

Got his Debut goal & really could have had more. Very good movement by our new poster boy. His pace & trickery will be dangerous for any team in the league. Really impressed & he also looks at ease with our beautiful play.

Kolasinac – 5

Ospina – 6

Wilshere – 6.5

Thats all from my ratings. Thank you for reading & try interacting with us at Arsenal-ClockEndTalk on Facebook & Twitter. All your comments are welcomed and we appreciate them.
