Saturday’s 3 PM fixture sees Arsenal face off against the Eagles in a game which will promise to raise a few eyebrows.
Paul Merson earlier in the week, in response to a question about their fixture, said that he sees Crystal Palace winning.
In some aspects, one may agree, although it’s not like Merson to criticise us in the media. While Crystal Palace could induce an upset, given the dire state of our defence at the minute, I believe the desire to return to top form – especially with the imminent incomings of Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang – will prove the impetus for a decent Gunners performance. Alexis Sánchez is odds on to never feature for our side again, leaving the headless chicken and fraud of a player Alex Iwobi to step up to the plate. In all honesty, I believe he should’ve been loaned off by now, but hey, it’s not like Arsenal fans to get their way in the proceedings of the club. Crystal Palace will be keen to exploit our horrendous run of form, especially given the potency of their front line (in reference to Zaha and Townsend). Their team has seen a resurgence from the start of the season under Roy Hodgson, and will be given better odds by the bookies to win this fixture. Would never say Arsenal were the underdogs, but we definitely have a point to prove. Time to knock it out of the park, fellas.
Holding, Mustafi, Chambers;
Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Wilshere, Bellerin;
Prediction: A nervy 2-1 victory.
