Arsenal Vs Chelsea preview: Back to Winning ways in the Cup?

Tonight’s fixture sees The Gunners clash against a blues side which will be eager to earn home victory at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have been in a less than satisfactory run of games recently, with our last two results being a scratch and claw draw with our opponents, and a humiliating defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, thereby ending our cup defence before it had even begun.

With Coquelin departing the squad imminently, one may expect to see Elneny feature in some way (albeit off the bench). By all means, I expect us to field a strong side, but without Özil pulling the strings in midfield Arsenal could find it extremely difficult to crack down an admittedly strong Blues back line. The only positive I can perceive going into this game is that Iwobi will not be featuring in any form; following his gravely irresponsible actions in the early hours of Saturday morning. Instead, I expect to see Wilshere in a more forward role, or if not, see Welbeck feature alongside the wantaway Alexís.

In all honesty, I believe Arsenal will be lucky to take a win at Stamford Bridge, I think despite how irritating it may be, Wenger and co may be playing for the draw.

Starting eleven: Cech; Mustafi, Holding, Chambers; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Wilshere, Xhaka, Bellerín; Alexis, Welbeck, Lacazette.

Prediction: 1-1, although this is hopeful.
