PREMIER LEAGUE: Arsenal vs Spurs – Review & Ratings

It was the North London Derby, our first big home game of the season as of now against our arch rivals spurs. Still the biggest game of the season for all of us & lot of pride was at stake. Buildup to the game was dominated by the talk of power shift in north london and most pundits naming only 2 Arsenal players in their combined eleven including some Arsenal legends. Arsenal players stepped up as a team & delivered a memorable performance shutting all the doubters in the process. It was a collective performance where the whole team showed their commitment & desire for a game of this magnitude. The togetherness was high & it looked like the players shared the same emotion as us fans for this old famous local derby. We completely dominated spurs, the team who were favourites according to everyone neutral. They looked clueless in handling the enthusiasm of our team. It has to be our Best performance this season & one of the the best team displays in a while. Arsenal players put all those jokes of power shift to rest with a whole hearted display. As the Game started, both the teams looked conscious & both dominated for spells. Emirates was bouncing and it was one of the best atmosphere at our home in my recent memory. All the Fans were up for the game, so were the players who duly delivered a dominant performance and dismantled the harry kane team. Ozil, Lacazette, Alexis started the game & Mustafi recovered well to put out our best possible eleven. We won most of the duels, tackled well & dominated mentally for large parts of the game. We scored in the 36th minute after a expertly taken free kick by Özil found Mustafi in the box who scored with a brilliant header.

Then we doubled our lead after just 5 minutes, where Bellerin, Lacazette, Özil & Alexis combined beautifully for Alexis to score the goal. We went into the break full of confidence & dominance after a phenomenal first half display. Then it was all us in the second half too where we dominated again but luck was not on our side as we missed numerous chances. Spurs tried to push forward & we should have capitalised on the counter. Substitutions were late and were just to see out the game, i hoped they could have been more aggressive as the game was stretched but thats just wishful thinking. This performance made me proud as a fan & i hope this is the catalyst for us reaching heights during the course of this season.

Ratings :

FIRST TEAM :

Cech – 7.5

Didn’t really have much to do but made 2-3 good saves which kept us in the game. His save from Dier in 2nd half was brilliant and he always looked assured between the sticks.

Koscielny – 8.5

It was dominant display by our Captain where nothing went past him. He struggled in the air for first 10 minutes but after that he had a great game in every aspect.

Mustafi – 9

He was coming back from an injury and showed why we missed him. Kept kane in his pocket and scored the 1st goal with an unstoppable header. Grew into the game and was everywhere in the 2nd half intercepting & clearing balls. Close second for the man of the match.

Monreal – 8

Another simple yet convincing display by our most consistent player. Didn’t do anything wrong & completed his job with ease.

Bellerin – 8

Attacked with all his power & used his pace well. Defended well mostly which is always a criticism for him. Did very well for the first goal and looked sharp.

Ramsey- 7.5

Had a very good game which is usual for him these days. Never stopped running & looked assured in midfield. His running power is such a boon for us and it showed. Slipped a little too much but otherwise was sharp always.

Xhaka – 7

Kept it simple & tidy. Took the yellow for the team and was really up for the derby.

Kolasinac – 7.5

Was a dynamic display by him where he was more worried about defending than attacking. Dominated his flank & kept trippier at bay with his strength & power. Quality player.

Özil – 9.5 (MOTM)

He dominated the game with his attacking prowess and surprisingly with some brilliant defensive work too. He is my Man of the Match . Looked spirited and Was really up for the game as he kept dominating in every area & created the first goal. He further created more chances and kept tackling those spurs players. Ran a lot & showed why he should be kept at the club as he is one of our best players.

Lacazette – 8

It was a vibrant display by our number 9 where he looked quality. Didn’t put a foot wrong and created the 2nd goal. Could have scored but then was substituted later on for Coquelin as we wanted to keep the lead.

Sanchez – 8

Scored the second goal and give his all for the team where he kept running & terrorising that spurs backline. Won the free kick with his cleverness from which we scored the first. Had many chances & could have done better had he been more smarter.

SUBSTITUTES:

Coquelin – 6.5

Iwobi – 6

Substitutes didn’t really had much to do as Coquelin was brought to see out the game and Iwobi came on to add some running power which they did well. I really would have liked to see Wilshere in a local derby and even Welbeck where they could have stretched the game later on but still no complaints.

Thats all from my review & ratings. Thank you for reading & try interacting with us at Arsenal-ClockEndTalk on Facebook & Twitter. All your comments are welcomed and we appreciate them.
