PREMIER LEAGUE: ManCity vs Arsenal – Review & Ratings

Another big away game and we didn’t get the result we craved for. It was a mixed performance but we certainly could have done more and better. Some referral decisions went against us and referee at times looked biased but we can’t say we deserved to win by any means. They have a better team and they showed it. Team selection had some surprising omissions and additions which saw Iwobi ,Coquelin Starting as Lacazette was dropped from the first eleven and Mertesacker was left out due to illness. We started with same formation although the first look of the lineup suggested that we are going with 4 at the back. We started well but then concede after an individual error & some good play by city. They had many chances and we had ours too in the first half but couldn’t score. We were still in the game after the first half but then they scored after a debatable penalty was given by the referee which they scored, it looked a penalty to me in real time because Monreal was nowhere near the ball. Then Lacazette came on & scored to bring us back in the game and showed why he should have started. We looked really dangerous after that until the Linesman didn’t give an easily spottable offside which help them become comfortable again after a dangerous spell by us. It was a very poor decision and referee looked biased throughout the game but we should have played to the whistle. Then we put Wilshere & Giroud on to try and give it a last push but it didn’t materialise. It finished 3-1 to City & on the balance of the play it looked fair as they were the better team.

Ratings :

Cech – 6

Could have done better for the first goal but kept us in the game with two great saves, one in the first half and another in the second half.

Koscielny – 6.5

Our best defender on the day, he was the only one somewhat dealt with city’s brilliant attack. Defended well at times, made some good tackles and crucial interceptions.

Coquelin – 5.5

Surprise start for him, was played out of position and made some mistakes but rectified them too with his tackling. Broke some attacks , tackled well but was never comfortable in possession.

Monreal – 5.5

Didn’t have the best of games as he couldn’t handle city’s pace. Made some mistakes & conceded the penalty. Could have done better.

Bellerin – 6

He was ok , kept sane at bay for most of the game & tried to attack.

Ramsey- 7

Assisted the only goal we scored and made some good attacking runs. Could have done better defensively, but gave a good spark at times.

Xhaka – 5.5

Didn’t have the best of games, but didn’t commit any mistakes. Kept it simple & could have done better when in possession.

Kolasinac – 6

Was good attacking wise but exposed us a lot defensively. Used his strength well. Kept possession nicely but should track back better.

Özil – 5.5

Was a passenger for most of the game & couldn’t really effect the game. His runs were always a little short but he didn’t ever get the ball in dangerous areas. I think we should give him a free role.

Sanchez – 5.5

Gave too many balls away & was poor in possession. Too many stray passes, never really looked dangerous and was a bad out ball for the team.

Iwobi – 5.5

Looked confused at times as he was not sure whether to press or sit back. Passing wasn’t good at could have done a lot better with the ball.

Wilshere – 6

Giroud – 6

Substitutes didn’t really had much to do but Lacazette brought us back in the game with a brilliant finish and after that was the only time when we looked better than city but then referee didn’t give that obvious offside which killed the game for us. Lacazette showed why he should have started & looks quality every time we see him play. Wilshere & Giroud came at 3-1 so they couldn’t really do much.

There is no MOTM as we didn’t really had one in my opinion, but 3 of our best players were Koscielny,Ramsey and Lacazette.

Thats all from my review & ratings. Thank you for reading & try interacting with us at Arsenal-ClockEndTalk on Facebook & Twitter. All the comments are welcome.
