EUROPA LEAGUE : Arsenal vs Red Star – Review & Ratings

Our 4th Europe League game of the campaign & we have now managed to qualify for the knockout stages which is great work considering there are still 2 games to go in the group. Red star have proven to be the toughest opponents in this group as we won marginally away and could only draw at home. There was only one change from our last Europa game as Macey started in goal after a good performance in League cup. It wasn’t a spectacular game as we had some chances but couldn’t capitalise on it and failed to create many as the final ball was missing at times. Red star also had some chances, we were more dominant but couldn’t score.

Ratings :

Macey – 7

Made two very good saves in the First half & commanded his box expertly at times. Kept us in the game & had a very good game.

Debuchy – 6

Had a good game & looks assured in that CB position. Speed troubled him sometimes but overall tackled well with opposing threat.

Elneny – 6

It was an ok performance by the egyptian as he wasn’t troubled much rather than the pace of the opposition. Looked comfortable.

Holding – 6

Had a good game and covered others position at times. Was good in the air & seems to have gained his confidence back.

Nelson – 6

Didn’t have the best of games defensively but was always dangerous when attacking. He made some clever runs and always had upper hand on his opponents.

Willock- 7

Was very energetic & lively in the 1st half as he tried to control the game. Looked sharp and intelligent but then lost some energy and was substituted later on.

Coquelin – 6

Wasn’t very convincing when he had possession but broke attacks time and time again. Can build on this performance for upcoming games.

Niles – 6.5

Didn’t start the game very well but grew into the game as he proved to be a good outlet on the left and defended well as the game went on.

Walcott – 5

He had a bad game as he went to some dangerous situations but couldn’t do anything. His movement was good but couldn’t impact the game at all. Improvement needed.

Giroud – 5.5

He wasn’t that good too. Missed some chances which he should have scored and wasn’t involved much.

Wilshere – 7.5 (MOTM)

He was always good but didn’t see the ball much in the 1st half. Really grew into the game in the 2nd half as he was brilliant in possession. Was unlucky not to score and tried to create a lot. Red star couldn’t deal with him.

Nketiah – 6

Came on to impact the game as he did in League cup but couldn’t do much.
