PREMIER LEAGUE: Arsenal vs WBA – Review & Ratings

After being unbeaten for the last 4 games , we went into this game to keep our run & we duly kept going as we won the game 2-0 in the end. It was really a game of two halves where we were very poor in the first half but scored to keep the confidence high & then improved in the second half to control the game and finish the job comfortably at full time. We started the first half very sloppily & kept giving ball away at times. WestBrom had a good game plan as they kept pressuring us high up the field. We defended poorly.Mustafi almost gave a penalty away clumsily which was a clear penalty but Cech made a brilliant save to keep us in the game. Then we scored after some brilliant free kicks by Alexis didn’t find their desired way but eventually one rebounded and Lacazette showed his intelligence to strike it home. WestBrom kept pressurising us and we were very lucky to not concede in the first half. Second half was all together different where we controlled the game, then scored to put the game to bed after some brilliant play by Ramsey to win the penalty which Lacazette converted expertly to complete his brace. There were both negatives & positives in the game but we certainly can improve on this performance. Ratings :

Cech – 7

He made some great saves to keep us in the game in the first half. Looked decisive when coming off his line. 3rd clean sheet in a row is what he’ll like the most.

Koscielny – 7

Was his usual self , always decisive & solid. Defended well, passing was good & was rarely troubled apart from one or two situations in the first half.

Mustafi – 6

He had a torrid first half where he looked sloppy & over ambitious at times. Almost gave the penalty away where there was no reason to tackle clumsily. Improved in the second half.

Monreal – 9 (MOTM)

He was everywhere, intercepting everything & showed his brilliant reading of the game. Kept us in the game with his awesome goal line clearance & was our best player by a mile. Man of the Match on the day, he didn’t put a foot wrong. Kept attacking when necessary & showed his great work in all parts of the field.

Underrated player.

Bellerin – 8

He had a good game where he hardly did anything wrong, his positioning was very good, looked convincing and combined well with others. Attacked well at times & was hardly troubled. He’s surely coming back to his best.

Elneny – 7

Had an ok game where he struggled through the first half along with many others. Grew into the game in the second half where his passing looked more decisive along with his good positioning.

Xhaka – 6

He didn’t have the best of games , looked sloppy & erratic at times. Can certainly do better than this, looks like he has lost some confidence but no doubt he is a quality player.

Kolasinac – 7

Looked good while attacking but gave some poor balls away at times in the first half. He surely gave his all & grew into the game in the second half.

Ramsey – 8

Had a very good game where he was looking dangerous & very intelligent. Was played slightly out of position but did well overall, did really well to earn us a penalty and covered the most distance on the pitch which really is not a surprise.

Lacazette – 8

Scored a very good brace as he became the first player to score in all of his first three games at Emirates. Showed his intelligence & extinct as a striker for the first goal and expertly converted the penalty for 2nd. Combined well with others & gave his all. Later substituted for Giroud as he looked tired.

Alexis – 6.5

Started sharply but gave the ball away too much for my liking. Was unlucky with his free kicks but eventually one of them helped us to score. He sometimes doesn’t look on the same wavelength as his teammates, needs to improve on that. Later substituted for Özil.

Ozil – 6

Didn’t have much to do in the game, but needed a runout to gain full fitness. Really hoping he comes back to his usual best soon.

Giroud – 6

Similar story, as he didn’t have much time to make an impact but he’s a very useful player to have. He will surely start in midweek, hoping for a good performance.

Niles – 6

Came on just for a few seconds later on for Ramsey. He can be quality & is very versatile, hopefully he gets a runout in cups.

Thats all from my review & ratings, I hope you liked it.Thank you for reading & feel free to interact with us on your views.
