CET season predictions

Before the season starts all of the regular Clock End Talk contributors will be writing their season predictions.(yes including the mole)

Mainly so you can laugh at us at the end of the season when the team we predicted to come 20th win the league undefeated.

Feel free to leave you answers in the comments and we will review this throughout the season.

First to answer is the voice

Who will win the league-
Man City their array of attackers is frightening, stopping them from scoring will be a big ask. There not the best at the back but good enough to out score others.
Top 4
Conte is as good as any and will be able to manage challening on 2/3 fronts.
Mourinho looks like he has his own squad now and they wont ship many goals but won’t play the “United” way
Arsenals squad is so big wenger can play a second string for the majority of the europa league meaning freshness in the league for the first 11.
PFA player of the year
Kevin de Bruyne. He is pure quality and if city do win the league as i predicted he will play a massive role.
AFC player of the year
Granit Xhaka, Im going for an obscure one because saying Alexis or Özil is boring. Granit was our best player in most games once we changed shape and carried on where he left last season in the community shield.
Fa cup winner
Tough to call, if spurs get to the semi they will be favourites due to a home semi and final. However that thought is unbearable so lets say Everton.

I dont think Brighton or Huddersfield have done enough to bridge the gap. The third one is tough, id of said Watford but i think Gray is an excellent signing. I really like Sean Dyche but can’t see Burnley have enough goals in them to stay up.

Season prediction – @RamXhakle
1st- Arsenal

As the eternal optimist I believe this truly could be our year, with the signing of a marquee striker and an absolute beast of a LB in Kolasinac I feel we genuinely have a squad capable of competing as long as we make 1 or 2 signings before the window shuts.
2nd- City

City have spent huge amounts since the arrival of Pep Guardiola and there team looks in great shape so I think they will be battling for the title this season. The only reason I don’t think they will won it is because they’ve got so many players that need to settle in properly.
3rd – Chelsea

Despite winning the title last year Chelsea’s squad is starting to look a bit thin and with a Champions League campaign to deal with they’re bound to get some injuries. I really think they’re going to struggle considering the additions other teams around them have made but don’t put it past them to go far in the Champions League.
4th – United

They have spent ridiculous amounts of money but I’ve always felt the value for money of those purchases was pretty poor. I think Lukaku will certainly score a lot of goals this season but the price tag may put pressure on him at the beginning of the season. Still don’t think their squad is good enough.

 PFA POTY- Alexis Sanchez

With the performances and goals he provided last season I feel he can only get better with these new players around him. If we push on and challenge for the title he will be instrumental in that.

AFC POTY – Granit Xhaka

Granit had a class season last year if it wasn’t for a couple of stupid refereeing decisions and he is only going to get better. His influence won’t be as obvious as the goals scored by Alexis or Lacazette but his pinpoint passing helps us to dominate even the big teams.
FA cup winner – Everton

With us seemingly prioritising the league over everything this year I feel someone else has to win it. Everton have made some good additions this summer in the wake of Lukaku’s departure, I think they’ve got a team capable of beating anyone on its day.

Huddersfield – This is a bit of a punt to be honest, I don’t know too much about Huddersfield but I just don’t know if they’re going to have the quality to get points in the premier league.
Stoke – For a few years there’s been points in the season where I’ve asked myself is this finally going to be the year where those bastards get sent down. (Still upset about Ramsey’s leg) Somehow they always survive but this year I don’t think they will.
Tottenham – I might be a little biased on this one. Moving into Wembley where their form is woeful, sold Walker and now Rose looks likely to go and they’ve yet to make a signing all summer. Squad looks so thin and with Champions League to play I think they’ll struggle.

Moley predictions

Doing these predictions now is a little premature as the window hasn’t closed yet. Moley will defiantly get some abuse here but I call it as I see it.

1st. City are the team to beat this season, Pep has been active in the transfer market giving city what they need to win the title.

2nd . Chelsea Conte is a genius his tactics again will play a key role. Chehas strengthen his back line and now has Morata leading at the front.

3rd. Manchester United after a disappointing campaign last season finishing 6th Jose has recruited well with Lukaku leading from the front. Expect a big season from Pogba.

4th.  Liverpool however this may change if they lose Coutinho. Klopp hasn’t had a big window I thought we may see a few more news faces adding Salah is a huge get for the reds expect to see ateacking football with the speed of their attack.
5th. Arsenal, Lacazette & Kolasinac is not enough talent to see Arsenal challenge for the title. I feel at best they will challenge Liverpool for a top 4 finish.

PFA – Player of the year – Kevin De Bruyne

AFF Player of the year – Granit Xhaka

I’m a huge fan of Xhaka I’m expecting big things from him this season. Who should finally settle down and start playing some brilliant football.

FA cup winner – Everton

Europa League – Arsenal

Champions League – PSG

They are recruiting to win Champions League with Neymar, it’s a bold prediction.

Season Predictions – @_TimPD
1st – Manchester City: Have improved significantly at the fullback positions and with Pep accustomed to the league and what it requires, I think the league is going back to the blue side of Manchester
2nd – Manchester United: The signing of Matic was a huge signing which will free up Pogba to be more potent in attack. I see him having good link up play with Lukaku and him having a good scoring season.
3rd – Chelsea: Squad depth is not good enough to retain the title but I believe Conte knows how to manage the team.
4th – Arsenal: If the Europa League is taken seriously and first team players are involved, then we finish 4th. If not, we will finish 3rd due to squad depth and possibilities of rotation.
PFA POTY: Aguero – Think he will have a big bounce back season and with De Bruyne and Silva giving him service, goals are inevitable.
FA Cup: Everton – Made some excellent signings and should make an impression on the league this season. Silverware should be coming back to Goodson.
AFC POTY: Granit Xhaka – Will step into that leadership role as he is now a guaranteed starter. Will be responsible for making the team tick and being the link from defence to attack.
Huddersfield: Won’t have the quality to maintain a significant push in the league, should be going back down.
Burnley: This is the year that they don’t avoid the drop, been surging purely on their grit at home.
Swansea: This may be controversial but if Sigurdsson is off to Everton, then I don’t see where the creative spark comes from not to mention the goals he chips in with.
