Premier League: Arsenal vs Leicester – PLAYER RATINGS

Premier League started with a seven goal thriller between Arsenal and Leicester finishing 4-3 in the favour of our Arsenal. It was a typical Arsenal performance, as we were as good as any team in the World offensively while also being as poor as a sunday league team defensively. We looked great in the first few minutes as we open the scoring within 2 minutes through our record signing Lacazette’s brilliant header but then we conceded 2 in the next 27 minutes making it 2-1 to Leicester due to some really poor defending n decision making. Then we have to thank Laca- kolasinac-welbeck for the equaliser just at the stroke of halftime because it had all gone very negative inside the stadium. We started the second half in some expected fashion n gave away a very poor goal through a corner making it 3-2 to Leicester. Then came the master class by Wenger at 66 minutes when he introduced two match winners Olivier Giroud n Aaron Ramsey who completely changed the game for us. Ramsey scored the equaliser after a brilliant ball by Xhaka was converted into the back of net which was soon followed by Giroud’s winner where he headed home ,typically outmuscling the whole Leicester defence to make it 4-3 in our favour.
New signings looked top notch & offensively we looked like a really good team but the concerns are at the back where we still need massive improvements. Hope we continue to improve as a team.

PLAYER RATINGS :

Petr Cech – 5.5

He was at fault for the first goal , can’t fault him for the rest two though. He did make some crucial saves & recoveries but has to improve to keep his place between the sticks.

Rob Holding – 4

A game to forget for our young & promising Centre half. Gave away some stray passes , looked shaky & clueless at times. He can surely improve on this performance as the season progresses.

Nacho Monreal – 6

It was an average performance by nacho playing as a makeshift Centre half though he did help the team to hold on the lead towards the end & made some crucial recoveries too.

Sead Kolasinac – 7.5

It was a really Solid performance by our new signing . He looks like a Beast, kept bossing Leicester attackers throughout the game & unselfishly created the second goal for welbeck. One of our top performers on the day.

Hector Bellerin – 6

Another average performer where he didn’t look as good as he can be.He was a good outlet at the right wing back position but needs to improve on his decision making or Ox is waiting to take his position.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain – 7

His dribbling was top notch today n defensively he looked solid too, hardly anything went past him. He can improve on his end product though. Promising performance.

Mohammed Elneny – 6

Created the first goal brilliantly but then faded away a little. Gave away few stray passes & could have done more to control the tempo in midfield. Subbed off later for Ramsey .

Granit Xhaka – 6.5

Mixed performance. He was at fault for the 2nd & 3rd goal , could have prevented the 1st as well. But then had some redemption later on by creating two crucial Goals that won us the game, can certainly improve the defensive side of his game.

Mesut Ozil – 5.5

Looked off the pace & lethargic today as it was visible that he is just coming back from an injury. Improved later on , specially when he got his preferred no. 10 position when we switched to back four.

Danny Welbeck – 7.5

Worked hard throughout the game & was a very good outlet at the left side of the attack as he scored a crucial game at the stroke of halftime to equalise. Subbed off later for Walcott.

Alexandre Lacazette – 8.5 MOTM

It was a dream debut for our record signing as he scored within two minutes of the start, hardly committed any mistake, created some crucial chances & was a constant threat throughout the game. Quality performance & the signs are very encouraging.

SUBSTITUTES :

Aaron Ramsey – 7

Great Cameo, looked a constant threat after coming on & scored an important equaliser. Surely in line to start our next game.

Olivier Giroud – 7.5

Has this knack of scoring some crucial goals & he did that today as well when he scored the winner as Leicester couldn’t cope up with his physicality. Certainly pushing hard for a start.

Theo Walcott – 6

Didn’t have much time to make an impact. This is a big season for him , he needs to improve a lot to stay in touch with the first eleven .

  1. if you analyse the gam very well. , u will realise that this was rather one of holding’s best games. bellerin was always caught in attack and holding had to play the 2 positions. thats why he was irritated with bellerin. for the stray passes none of them led to goals and for a team which plays from the back, there should be more options for him to pass to, bellerin was always too far ahead. imo bellerin was the poorest player….got beaten for every air ball bar one

    • Good point…but holding became shaky once we started conceding goals. I agree
Bellerin was poor & needs to improve a lot .
